Dorset Site Visits
RBA Director James made the most of the good weather last week and visited some of our Dorset new home projects to check on their progress.
The projects are in a variety of phases across the RIBA work stages. Diggers are hard at work on the first project, an off-grid barn conversion in Dorset. A concrete slab for the field shelter has been laid and the solar array will be installed shortly.
Near Sherbourne, contractors are putting the roof on a two storey extension of a three storey detached house. The house is undergoing significant renovations. A single storey annex has been demolished and a 1970s wing rebuilt, set back from the original elevation. The walls of the new extension are ready for the local stone cladding and there are new windows on the first and second floors.
Four miles from Shaftesbury, a two storey, 4 bedroom new build house is nearly finished and just waiting for the porch to be built. The house also has an oak framed garage with an extra bedroom above. This joins to the main house via a single storey red brick link.
Finally, clients have now moved into their new build home in central Shaftesbury. Only the garden landscaping needs to be completed. RBA designed the home to match the local style, with a stone finish similar to other local dwellings.
We are looking forward to seeing the final touches on the last two projects and sharing more photos.
