The Richmond Bell team had a fantastic day in the sun at Longleat last week.
We started the morning with a tour around the Grade I listed house, learning about its history and the people who built and lived there from our very knowledgeable guide Lisa. We were equally impressed by the ornate Italian ceilings and goatskin wall paper and horrified by the damage that death watch beetle did to the original timbers of the building. Seeing the shirt that Charles I was wearing when he was executed was a particularly gory highlight!
After lunch in the sunshine it was time to visit the animals. Flynn got up close and personal with a fish and we all loved the koalas, otters, birds and meerkats. We then took a drive to Safari Village to look at the giraffes and walk amongst the lemurs before entering the safari and are pleased to report that all cars survived the monkey enclosure intact! We had a fantastic experience with the lions, tigers, cheetahs and wolves all coming close to the cars and posing obligingly for photographs...
