Richmond Bell’s Matthew and Rachael recently paid a visit to some of our New Forest projects - past, present and future!
Work has recently completed on this contemporary sustainable extension to a cottage in the Cranborne Chase National Landscape, a local Conservation and New Forest District Council Planning Area. Two extensions, one timber clad and one glass box kitchen extension, have been added to the rear of the house. Both provide flexible living spaces for the occupants, and solar panels on the timber extension, together with an air source heat pump, have increased the sustainability of the cottage.
Retractable automatic blinds on the skylights will also prevent light pollution into the surrounding Dark Skies Reserve, while fully retractable glass doors on both extensions will improve the connection to nature by opening the house out to the garden.
“We are so grateful to the Richmond Bell team - these extensions have transformed the house and our lives!”
Client comment
The second visit was to a Grade II* Listed Building project on the outskirts of the New Forest, where we have received planning permission for a contemporary glass kitchen extension to the rear of the property. Matthew and Rachael met with the clients to discuss the appointment of contractors and work should begin on site soon.
Finally, they went to the site of a recently appointed project near New Milton, in the heart of the New Forest. Here the clients are intending to make use of a recently obtained Lawful Development certificate received by the New Forest National Park Authority to create a traditional new home in place of an existing small house. The Richmond Bell team will be working closely with Atlas Planning to create a design that is sympathetic to its surroundings, and maximises the views across the surrounding landscape.
